Hello Fashionistas! My name is Hannah Staples and I am extremely excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista community this semester. I am a sophomore at Kent State University pursuing a degree in fashion merchandising. My love for fashion blossomed at a young age thanks to my mother. My mother has always had an incredible eye for style and would dress me in the cutest trends. Her passion is what really inspired me to make fashion my career.
To me, fashion isn’t just clothes. It’s a form of expression and a way to present one’s self. In high school, I wore clothes that were different from the norm and classmates would constantly ask me, “Why are you so dressed up?” I always told them that dressing well was a great form of politeness. Your image is the first impression you have on a person and I want to make it a good one. However, I don’t just dress for people. I dress for myself. When I look nice and put together, I feel better about myself and have more confidence. Confidence is a department I lack in and when I put on a stylish outfit, my whole mindset changes. Style is one thing, but wearing it with confidence is another.
I would say my personal style is classic-chic with some edge. I love the classic Audrey Hepburn look but some days I want to be Debbie Harry. My style is all over the place, but that’s what I love about fashion. There isn’t a right or wrong way and pretty much anything goes. Fashion is a unique concept that can be interpreted in many ways.
