STYLE GURU BIO: Grace Garza

Hey fellow Fashionistas, it’s Grace here! I am a small town girl from Washington State who took a leap and ended up in the magical city of Los Angeles. Currently a senior, I am studying business management at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (call me Lauren Conrad). This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista, and I am so excited to share my rad findings with you. I have not a single doubt in my mind that this big move was the best decision I have ever made in my life. In just two years, I have attained a degree from one of the greatest fashion programs in the world, I’ve met some of the most genuine and inspiring people that I know, and I have gotten to work at one of the coolest fashion companies around, Nasty Gal.

If I could describe my personal style in three words, I would choose detailed, animated, and assertive. The coolest thing I’ve come to realize since moving to Los Angeles is that fashion has no clear definition or boundaries, and as long as you are confident in how you style yourself, everyone else will follow along. To me, personal style is like a flower that lives forever—each one is truly unique and special, and as time goes on, it continues to bloom in reference to its environment. This red leather jacket is one of my favorite items in my closet, which I have paired with a bodysuit and lace-up skirt.

I probably couldn’t (or ever wish to) live without sweet cold brews, genuine conversations with strangers, spicy tuna sushi rolls, ’80s jams, live music, creative minds, or the smell of salty ocean water. I’m both an introvert and an extrovert because sometimes I’m just my favorite person to hang out with. The track that I would assign to my life would be “Hot Child in the City” by Nick Gilder, and if I could be anyone in this world, it would be Blair Waldorf—Gossip Girl, forever in our hearts.

Be kind, be boundless, be passionate, and live for fun.
