STYLE GURU BIO: Gabrielle Sheehan

Hi friends! My name is Gabrielle Sheehan and I am so excited to start out with CollegeFashionista this summer. I am going to be a junior at San Diego State University in the fall, studying business marketing. I moved to San Diego from Michigan with my family seven years ago and I just could not imagine leaving the beach and amazing weather so I decided to stay in San Diego for college. Plus, home cooked meals and free laundry are just a short car ride away.

Choosing SDSU was a great decision on my part: San Diego is full of gorgeous beaches, extremely delicious food (California burritos) and I love the surfer vibe here. Ever since moving to San Diego, the surfer vibe that comes from being so close to the beach has influenced my style quite a bit. Adding brands like Ripcurl, Billabong and my favorite Rainbow sandals to my wardrobe have brought me to be the “Southern California Girl” that I am today.  Even though I’ve lived in San Diego for so long I am still finding new places to explore and new restaurants to test out. On the weekend you’ll find me adventuring to donut shops downtown or picnicking on Sunset Cliffs.

While most people procrastinate doing their homework by watching Netflix, I choose to online shop. Whenever you open my laptop you’ll find at least ten tabs open with all the clothes that I currently want to buy. I have an ongoing obsession with bathing suits, right now I have around 30 separate pieces. It’s a little excessive and I’ve only worn a few of them once. Some of my other current obsessions are Birkenstocks, lacey bralettes, shift dresses and anything olive colored because it makes my hazel eyes pop.

In these pictures I am wearing my favorite wrap around skirt that I recently bought from CottonOn. I love it because I can pair it with a T-shirt for a casual daytime look, or throw on a crop top for going out in the evening. I like to keep it simple with my accessories. Normally I will throw on a few rings or bracelets and I have a simple Dogeared necklace that never really take off. Today, I wore stackable rings from Brighton with a turquoise ring that used to be my grandmother’s. After throwing on my Ray-Bans Clubmasters, this outfit is essential for my day-to-day summer style.

I can’t wait to share my next post; but until then, just remember what Kate Spade said: “Playing dress up starts at age five and never really ends.”
