STYLE GURU BIO: Erin Brown

What’s up, Fashionistas?

I’m Erin Brown, a returning Style Guru from the College of Charleston. I’m a communication major with specialties in fashion styling, street style photography, and fashion and culture writing. I’m also finishing my last semester of college (still can’t believe it). As I’m wrapping up my last semester here in Charleston, I’m spending my time exploring new places in the south and celebrating the vibrant culture this city has to offer. My college career has been such a positive and formative experience, especially moving to the South from the North and studying abroad in Copenhagen. Through my adventures and experiences around Charleston, New York City and Copenhagen, I felt all of the personalities of those cities have influenced my style. This outfit is one of my favorites right now, it so effortless and sleek.  I love the pop of red my cropped hoodie gives to this outfit and I’m obsessed with accordion design on my pants. I love adding a choker to my outfits to make it more edgy and interesting.

One of the things I adore about fashion is the ability to transform yourself and explore different parts of one’s personality. I love experimenting and trying out new trends and silhouettes. As Diana Vreeland once said, “Fashion must be the most intoxicating release from the banality of the world.” It’s fascinating how much of fashion is a powerful form of unspoken communication. It is a tool that we use to tell people who we are and who we want to be. The shirt you put on your back, the jeans you zip up, and the shoes you tie on your feet are such a powerful form of unspoken communication

I am eager and ecstatic to use this platform to celebrate the life and style of youth in Charleston and to share my fashion insights with you. If you find yourself looking for sartorial inspiration, I more than welcome you to join my journey with CollegeFashionista. You can find me here, or on my Twitter and Instagram pages.
