STYLE GURU BIO: Emmanuela Okon

Hey guys! My name is Emmanuela Okon and I am so excited to begin my journey on here as a Style Guru on CollegeFashionista. I will be starting my first year of University at the University of Toronto and I will be attending the Mississauga campus with a major in communication culture and information technology.

I wouldn’t say I have a particular style I am attached to because I love getting exposed to different styles and pieces of clothing. However, I have this huge obsession on sneakers because I just feel more comfortable wearing them than heels.

As a matter of fact, not settling for just one particular type of style has evolved my perspective towards fashion.

Likewise, fashion or just taking time to style outfits is more than just a hobby to me. Instead, it serves as a way for me to express myself through the different outfits I put on. I remember when I was younger, I never really saw the importance of looking all dolled up and I just decided to stick to my go-to looks back then, which were my basic T-shirt and jeans. And to be honest, my mother was not too happy about it, but I must say, my mother has been my greatest inspiration because she has been the pathway to my fashion interest.

Now, for this look I have on here, I decided to go all out with what I’d like to call a ‘layering technique’ with this pink leather effect jacket and pink turtle-neck crop top from Sirens. These two shades of pink both have a slight contrast tone, but with the whole color contrast thing going on, this intensifies the black pleated trousers and gives the pink a more vibrant tone. I really love these trousers because they’re comfortable and suitable for anyone to wear. Also to spice up the look, what is better than a pair of black lace-up brogues from River Island to give the outfit an old school vibe in a modern era? To glam up the whole look, I decided to go with my bracelets from Stitches, a watch from Swatch and a ring from Forever 21, and then I added my Louis Vuitton purse.

I am also a makeup and hair lover. Well, the hair love just came up recently and I am loving it because I learned most of the things beauty-related myself from YouTube videos and this has really helped me a lot. I continue to remain completely addicted to it.

I am so thrilled to be a part of this and I can’t wait for everyone else to follow me on this style journey, so please stay tuned!
