STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Ciavatta

January 5th, 2016 at 2:10am

Hey, loves! My name is Emily Ciavatta, and I’m a sophomore at Monmouth University, studying communication with a focus in public relations and journalism and with a minor in marketing. I’m often found taking pictures of my coffee cup in random places, listening to my Spotify playlists at obnoxious volumes, talking about Twenty One Pilots or taking the perfect Instagram of my shoe choice that, of course, goes with my aesthetic.

I’m a huge beach and city lover and, with my current location, I get the best of both worlds. With my school only being a mile away from the shore and my hometown being a mere 30 minute commute to New York City, I get to visit my two favorite places whenever I please; which does wonders for my creative mindset. I hope to one day move to New York City, work a job that I love, create and put out nothing but positive vibes.

Music is something that inspires my style a lot. I’m into all types of music—ranging from R&B to Rap to Alternative to Pop Punk to Rock, to even music that’s heard on the radio, surprisingly enough. I have an extremely open mind when it comes to not just music, but everything. I’m a huge activist for LGBTQ rights, and yes—Orange Is the New Black is my favorite show. Besides music, I also pull a lot of my style inspiration from things just like my favorite shows, my close friends, my favorite celebrities and current fashion trends.

My style is sometimes hard to categorize. I like shopping in both the men’s and women’s sections of most stores, and I try to be as limitless and boundless as possible. Some days you’ll find me dressed up super girly, and some days (actually most days) you’ll find me in my favorite jeans and my go-to pair of Vans. I’m a huge fan of fun socks and beanies, so whenever my outfit needs a little zest, I throw those things on. I’m also a baggy T-shirt enthusiast, and if it has a cool graphic or saying on it I like it even more.

So that’s a little bit about me, and I look forward to sharing my style with you all this spring semester. Feel free to follow me on my social media platforms and to check in to my CollegeFashionista blog every month for my posts. As my favorite shirt says, “make it good and make it easy.” Stay positive, loves!
