STYLE GURU BIO: Elsa Kurosu

Hey Fashionistas! My name is Elsa Kurosu and I’m super excited to kick off my first semester as a Style Guru. To tell you a little bit about myself, I am a senior at Chapman University, studying business administration with a marketing emphasis and holistic wellness cluster.

As an avid online shopper, photo-taker, traveler, and foodie myself, being a Fashionista quite accurately encompasses my lifestyle. For as long as I can remember, I have been styling my own outfits and admiring the world of fashion. Spending 12 years of my life in Japan, I have constantly been surrounded by unique art and fashion that has sparked my drive and passion for style. Living in California has given me a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city, but has continued to inspire me more each day.

I use fashion as an expressive outlet, and there is no doubt that a good outfit is the key to a good day. Fashion is what gives me confidence while challenging my creativity, and I love that there is always something new to experiment with. I would describe my style as casual and simple, yet trendy. This being said, my style is constantly evolving and always dependent on how I feel that day. The bottom line is, I wear what I want to and what I feel most comfortable in!

I love mixing and matching vintage/new, edgy/girly, and casual/fancy pieces. Now that it’s a bit chilly here in SoCal, I’ve been obsessed with statement outerwear, which is such an easy way to vamp up a basic outfit. I paired this shaggy faux fur jacket with some casual jeans, T-shirt, and classic black booties. Then I added a pop of color with my vintage yellow crossbody bag. Each of these pieces are super simple and versatile on their own. Although the jacket is a statement, the outfit isn’t too over-the-top, and it’s perfect for California winters.

I can’t wait to share many more fashion favorites and fellow Fashionista style tips that I find on campus with you all. 2017 is going to be amazing, and I couldn’t be happier to be kickin’ it off here as a Style Guru!
