Bonjour Fashionistas/os! My name is Ellie Hagen, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to share everyday fashion with you for the upcoming spring semester. I am currently a freshman at Purdue University studying Communications with an emphasis in PR and Advertising, as well as having minors in Spanish and Art and Design. With these tools, I hope to one day be able to use my love of fashion in whatever my future endeavors may be. I am a coffee and sugar addict, Alexander McQueen groupie and art enthusiast.
I was born and raised in the great northern state of Minnesota where I was, and am, greatly influenced by the incredible nature that surrounds me. One moment you may be in the heart of Minneapolis surrounded by skyscrapers, while just a 15-minute drive away you could be out boating on one of our many lakes. My love for fashion came from my mother who grew up in Belgium, which greatly influenced hers and my own style. Simple and classic.
I first fell in love with fashion through the art of evening gowns. I felt a euphoric high, as well as a pang of jealousy, watching my mother get ready for events where she got to dress like a princess. I would dress up in my mom’s finest gowns and try on her highest heels trying to look like the princesses I had seen in Disney movies. I loved the way that clothing had the power to change a persona for a few short hours, yet one could always return to the person they were meant to be.
I am so excited to be able to share my thoughts with all of you. My hope is to bring a light to some of my favorite pieces. Pieces that bring you to other places and might go unnoticed, but hold a beauty that everyone will appreciate.
