STYLE GURU BIO: Casey Nalley

Hello, Fashionistas/os! I’m so excited that I have the opportunity to be a Style Guru for this fall semester! I am starting my junior year at the University of Kentucky as a writing, rhetoric and digital studies major, and I love documenting all the fabulous fashion that college students are working. I loved exploring my hometown for the best street style during my first semester as a Style Guru this past summer, and now I’m even more excited to share all the incredible style I see every day on campus!

When I’m not in class, I enjoy working at my university writing center, studying and exploring the great city of Lexington. There are many amazing thrift shops and boutiques around campus, and downtown is only a short walk away with a plethora of shop fronts and restaurants. My weekends are often filled with trying on new looks and searching for the perfect pieces to make the perfect outfit.

My personal style is always evolving. While only a few months ago, I was wearing mostly gold jewelry, I have now transferred to silver. Silver accessories with a vintage look such as the rings pictured above have taken over my outfits. And, while the fall semester has finally begun, the summer sun hasn’t left us yet. I’ve decided to savor in it for as long as possible, wearing a pink tank top and cut-up shorts while I still can. This look was not complete without a bit of print. I love versatile pieces that can be paired in many ways, like this elegant, light blue kimono. I showcased my great love for florals with this piece over my sheer, white, prom dress during my senior year of high school, and now I am pairing it with simple summer staple items. Also, the beautiful vintage bag was a great find that my mother gifted me for my birthday this year. With it’s simplicity and black exterior, this bag can be an accessory all year round. Of course, the fall breeze will catch up to us soon enough, and when it does, I will have my boots, sweaters and scarves ready.

I cannot wait to document some of the fabulous style that I see daily here at the University of Kentucky. I am constantly inspired by the incredible fashion and beauty looks from my fashionable classmates. Don’t forget to check back once a month to see what the students of UK are wearing this season!
