STYLE GURU BIO: Ashley Buchanan

January 4th, 2016 at 2:00am

Hello reader! My name is Ashley Buchanan and I am currently a junior at Michigan State University studying humanities with a pre legal track, bioethics and peace and justice studies. When I grow up I’d like to work in international law pertaining specifically to human rights. Fashion was never a real interest for me until I went to Italy my third year of high school.

I grew up in a suburb of Detroit but have always dreamed of living in Europe. I was able to accomplish that dream my freshman year of college when I attended The American University of Rome in Lazio, Italy. It was by far the greatest experience of my life to date. The city of Rome is one of my style inspirations and the ultimate love of my life. It’s classic yet modern, colorful, dramatic, mysterious, lively and beautiful beyond belief. The city itself gave me the confidence to develop a personal style that I think portrays my personality and how I want to be perceived by others, which is essentially the purpose of fashion. Besides the city of Rome, my other favorite style icon is Blair Waldorf from the Gossip Girl series. She has a great mixture of classic and modern elements which I admire greatly. One of my goals in life is to be able to have a closet as fabulous as hers. Although I sadly cannot have her closet to my dismay, I try to make what I have work.

I look forward to my semester as a Style Guru, thanks for checking out my style!

Here is a sweater similar in color and style to mine, unfortunately the boutique I bought my skirt from does not have a website but here is a similar one that should be less expensive than shipping one from Rome. Finally, here is my sparkly necklace.
