STYLE GURU BIO: Andrea Fernandez

Hola Fashionistas! Once again reporting for duty Andrea Fernandez as a Style Guru. I have been part of the CollegeFashionista family for four terms now and I am beyond excited to start the fifth one. Since I started my internship with CollegeFashionista, a lot of things have changed in my life.

I transferred schools, and now I couldn’t be happier to be at Emerson College studying Journalism. Also, my blog “Sanctuary of Freedom” has been growing everyday since the day I started it at the beginning of my freshmen year. When I transferred to Emerson, a really cool magazine caught my attention. It was EmMag, Emerson’s amazing fashion and lifestyle magazine. Without a doubt, I decided to join in. After two semesters of hard work, meeting incredible and talented people and getting to know the foundations of what really makes an incredible issue, I’m proud to say I was chosen to be the Editor-in-Chief alongside a talented student, Austin.

I always joke around at school that my writing skills have improved thanks to CollegeFashionista and not so much because of Emerson. However, I do think that it is true. When you write about what you love, you are more excited and willing to absorb every criticism and advice you can get. I am not saying I feel discourage when it comes to school work, but I do feel that what I do at CollegeFashionista is right up my alley. Writing about fashion and lifestyle feels natural to me and what better way to grow and be prepared for the real world than a place where you feel safe because everybody is doing what you are doing and loving it.

This semester I am so ready to juggle school work, EmMag, my blog and my duty as a Style Guru. This year, is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and facing new challenges everyday. Let’s make 2015 a year to remember.
