STYLE GURU BIO: Amelia Burns

My name is Amelia Burns and I am currently a junior at Temple University. I love my school and have a serious obsession with how much passion is around me on a daily basis. I am studying broadcast journalism and eventually hope to be working in the television industry. This is my third semester writing for CollegeFashinonista and I am so excited to be returning. I have made some amazing friends this past year just by networking with fellow Style Gurus.

Fashion is a major part of my life. This past summer I interned for a fashion television network based in Chicago. While living and working in Chicago, I continued working on my fashion and lifestyle blog, theameliaburns.com. It was the closest I’ve ever come to living the Sex and the City life, so you can imagine how hard that was to leave.

My personal style seems to evolve everyday. I would like to say its chic minimalistic with some subtle punk and grunge. The truth is everyday I roll out of bed feeling like a different person and each day my style matches who I feel like that day. My closet is a combination of beautiful neutrals and funky staple pieces. My favorite staple piece currently is this pair of patent leather booties from Public Desire. When I pair these with my favorite leather jacket, I’m ready to take on the world.

My favorite places to shop right now are Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom and Topshop. This past summer, I have also developed a deep love for thrifting. I think it’s fun to be able to incorporate vintage pieces into modern fashion. I also love borrowing clothes from friends.  My friends are my biggest inspirations when it comes to fashion. They change my perception of trends and give me confidence to try new things. Right now, I can’t seem to stop wearing my best friends Jac Vanek flannel. I promise she will get it back…eventually.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my bio and get to know me. I can’t wait to see all the amazing style inspiration that my fellow Fashionistas will bring to life this year.
