STYLE GURU BIO: Ally Faustino

Hey Fashionistas! I’m Ally Faustino and this is my third semester as a Style Guru for San Diego State University. So, after having written two other STYLE GURU BIOS before, I decided I’d introduce myself differently this time.

Currently, I’m a sophomore studying Graphic Design in sunny San Diego and truth be told, I have always been a Fashionista at heart. It is the one thing that I can vividly remember throughout my entire childhood and something that has opened so many doors for me. From wearing a bikini with cowgirl boots at Universal Studios when I was six years old, all the way to playing dress up in my walk in closet with my best friends at the time (Barbie and the gang, of course). After years of playing pretend, I finally found myself in the middle of the real world. Once I graduated high school and left behind my theatre days, fashion became the one thing I focused on. I worked hard and landed an internship with Cosmopolitan Magazine’s art department for both their print team and their web team. I was recruited to represent Aeropostale as a Style Ambassador, as well as become a Pond’s Brand Ambassador. After these amazing opportunities, my love for fashion, beauty and the publishing industry were only strengthened. Little did I know, that was only the beginning. Today, I am not only a Style Guru here at CollegeFashionista, but I am also a Brand Ambassador for Sand Cloud and I am the Editorial Assistant for a beauty book called “This Is Me, Love Marie” by Heart Evangelista. All I can say, Fashionista, is you’ve got to work hard for what you want!

So, switching gears a little bit—the look I chose to be featured here is one of my latest favorite trends and I just couldn’t resist writing about it for my bio. This trend has not only taken the Philippines by storm, but has also taken over some of the worlds biggest fashion capitals. The trend I’m talking about, Fashionistas, is *drumroll* the white sneaker trend. More specifically, the universe’s ongoing obsession with adidas Classic Superstars, white Keds and anything in-between. So, here I am, trying out the white sneaker trend for the first time and absolutely loving it. I decided to pair my white kicks with a few standard pieces. I put on some basic black leggings, a classic blush pink camisole and a recent favorite of mine: a pink bomber jacket. I accessorized by pairing a gold necklace with layered gold bracelets. Now I know this look is really sporty and simple, but that’s precisely why I love it. It’s perfect for long hours of travelling and it’s perfect for going from class to class, and even heading straight to the gym after. Plus, it’s super comfy! I mean, how could you go wrong with leggings and sneakers, right? As far as I’m concerned, the white sneaker trend is the best thing to happen to shoe trends yet!

I can’t wait to share more looks and trends with you this semester. ‘Til next time, Fashionista!
