STYLE GURU BIO: Alanta Slone

Hello, my lovely Fashionistas/os! My name’s Alanta Slone, and I am a sophomore at Columbus College of Art and Design studying fashion design and minoring in business. I believe myself to be a free spirit who loves to laugh. One of my favorite nights are the late nights with my friends eating pizza and laughing about anything and everything. I also live for fruit, smoothies, coffee, adventures, loving yourself and all things fashion. My favorite fashion seasons are fall and winter. Playing with layers happens to be an all time favorite of mine. I’m a huge believer of the Greek word “meraki,” which means to do something with soul, creativity or love; when you put “something of yourself” into what you’re doing, whatever it may be. I think you will find a lot of myself into my personal style, even when working with trends. I try to put a little bit of myself into whatever I am doing, from blogging and styling, to the clothes I design.

When I was little, my grandpa gave me the nickname “dress up girl.” I would spend hours in the room just dressing up and playing with accessories. The hobby stuck ever since and is now my passion in life, but I didn’t know I wanted to to make it a career until I traveled to Madrid and Paris my junior year of high school. The style there just blew my mind, and ever since then I focused more on my art and style. I still get called dress up. I love it, and I don’t think he could have picked a better nickname for me. I also recently started my own personal blog where I love talking about fashion, beauty and lifestyle topics and am beginning to upload more frequently.

My personal style is edgy and laid back, but sometimes I love to bring out a soft girly side of myself. For the most part, I could be seen wearing lacy bralettes, a plain T-shirt and a pair of boyfriend jeans with some Converse. Most of the time I will add a flannel just because I’m a bit obsessed with them. Make sure to follow me on my Instagram and Twitter and keep up with my latest favorites, #OOTD’s and my random complaints about fashion. I’m very excited to be working with CollegeFashionista for the first time and being able to share my eye for fashion and trends.
