STYLE ADVICE: Rad In Plaid

January 27th, 2017 at 2:00am

With the start of 2017, the Internet took trends by storm saying that we had to “leave-blank-back in 2016.” Thankfully, for the sake of fashion, some of those trends that didn’t get cut were turtlenecks, thigh high boots, and oversize scarves.

In my opinion, one of the classiest looking outfits to wear during the winter is black on black. In fact, young fashion icons like Kylie Jenner and Hailey Baldwin have both been seen in these types of outfits. Not only does it look clean and effortless, but it has also started to become a staple in almost every closet. In today’s post, I helped this Fashionista assemble an elegant, yet edgy outfit to wear for a night out on the town.To give the outfit dimension, I mixed different black fabrics in order to keep it interesting. They say that history repeats itself and I have noticed that the turtleneck and leather pants have made a huge comeback towards the end of 2016. As far as thigh high boots go, this is a trend that I adore and hope to see stick around! Whether you’re wearing a dress or pairing them up with distressed jeans and a vintage band T-shirt, it is safe to say that thigh high boots can make any outfit instantly sexier. As seen in the picture, we paired leather pants with a plain black turtleneck and then added a pair of faux suede thigh high boots. For a subtle pop of color and also to keep this Fashionista warm since Pittsburgh temperatures have dropped well below 35 degrees, we added an oversize scarf. My favorite thing about oversize scarves is that they can be worn so many different ways. In today’s post, instead of wearing it around her neck, we draped it over her shoulders to give the outfit more of a poncho feel instead of a typical scarf.

Black on black is cute and trendy but you can always count on looking rad in a pop of plaid.
