STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Transitional Terrors

Transitional dressing can be a fun, tricky game to play. Like clockwork, August brings about a slew of “I’m so ready for sweater weather” posts all over social media, and who can blame them? After sweltering heat, a nice, fuzzy embrace from our favorite sweater is a welcome change. But what if sweater weather doesn’t come as fast as you think? What if October chugs along with no significant drop in the temperature, and you’re stuck sweating in your highly-anticipated chunky cardigan and blanket scarf?

That image is my reality. Every. Single. Fall. I wake up freezing in my bed just to leave the apartment in a coat with the sun beating down on me. Or worse, I forget to throw on a pair of stockings and am forced to endure crisp winds beating against my legs.

The key to this is layering, my friends, and this Fashionista nailed it.

The star of this style show is her flannel plaid shawl. Complete with a cozy texture and a playful fall pattern (conjuring luxurious images of Burberry), this piece is the perfect go-to for fall days when you just don’t know quite how warm to dress. This Fashionista decided to add a long, gold necklace to the set giving the thin, knit top enough sparkle to stand alone if it gets too hot for the shawl. A classic pair of denim and some fringe booties and you have yourself the perfect transitional outfit.

So don’t dive headlong into your closet to find your coziest piece, you’ll have plenty of time to wear it when the snow is falling and your jacking the thermostat up. Take a cue from this stylish Fashionista and work with several light pieces in thermal textures to create a look that is versatile, stylish and autumn approved.
