STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: T-Shirts Need Love, Too

When times get tough, I like to count on a good old T-shirt and leggings to get me quickly on my way to class. I have a ton of them because as you know, colleges are always giving away free shirts! And who doesn’t own at least two pairs of black leggings? It’s not the most fashionable; however, it gets the job done! The sad part is people forget that T-shirts can actually be worn in a much more stylish way. You can wear them with an outfit that wasn’t picked out in the 30 seconds you had to get ready.

I personally don’t do this too often, but maybe I should; this Fashionista is wearing a graphic T-shirt with a cotton skirt. I love the combination because of the colors she employs. Black goes great with any color, but the yellow stands out with the dark background. The yellow also complements the red without the awkward ketchup and mustard look since the black breaks up the two colors. If I were to recreate this outfit I would wear the same kind of T-shirt, for example this one from Forever 21, with a skater skirt like this from Nordstrom Rack. I like these shoes and the glasses that this Fashionista wore because it shows her personality. The shoes are very similar to this pair by Dr. Marten. They are kind of chunky and sturdy, which adds its own personality to the outfit. Her sunglasses remind me of the ones the photographer Terry Richardson wears, which was the first thing I thought when I spotted her. They’re quirky and fun; not very many people can pull it off quite like she did, but I would encourage everyone to try! There’s a similar versions to his that you can find from zeroUV.
