STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Stand Out In Shearling

February 26th, 2016 at 2:00am

After this winter, I can now say that I’m a firm believer in global warming because it’s February and this is one of the first snowfalls Ithaca has had! Coming from a native upstate New Yorker, I regret saying that I have become accustomed to our harsh, snowy winters. It can be hard to decide what to wear in this weather because, even though there are sub-zero temperatures outside, the academic buildings on campus tend to blast the heat. If you’re running to class, you can work up a sweat in that faux fur coat and wool sweater.

This Fashionista shows us how layering can allow you to get good use out of your summer staples in the chilly winter months. Her suede shirt was a huge trend last summer and fall, but she has transitioned it into the winter months by layering it under a practical shearling coat, which can be worn on its own or under a heavier winter coat.

This Fashionista is a great example of how you can dress up leggings on days when all you want to do is be comfortable for class, but still look cute. I didn’t even realize they weren’t skinny jeans because she tucked them into a versatile pair of black ankle booties that tie the whole outfit together.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “You can still wear your favorite tops in the winter. Just layer them with a thick sweater or coat so you don’t freeze on the way to class!”
