STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: On the Cowl

Sweater weather is always a bittersweet time of year partially because of the chilling windshields, but more so because somewhere, amidst the monotony of putting on sweater after sweater, sweaters tend to lose their “spark.”

This Fashionista revived the common sweater look with her lovely cowl-neck sweater, changing up the typical sweater and scarf combo. The cowl neckline breaks up a plain sweater and offers a perfect canvas to feature a long necklace.

The added lace-up booties add a little bit of an edge without seeming too dressy. You’ve probably gone for the jeans-sweater-boot combo multiple times (we all have), but booties are the new kids in town and this Fashionista seamlessly incorporated them into her look.

Winter doesn’t have to be drab. Instead of wearing black or gray, go for some brighter colors like the light blue sweater on this Fashionista. Accessories are the perfect way to add a pop of color or flair, and really showcase your personality. Feeling edgy? Contrast the softness of the sweater with some ripped jeans or a necklace with sharp lines. Follow this Fashionista’s advice and you are sure to be a fashion inspiration all winter long.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Cowl-necks stand out to me because they add something more to a sweater than just a normal neckline. To me, it’s a cross between a normal neckline and a turtleneck. I normally don’t prefer turtlenecks, so adding the element of the cowl-neck adds variety to my sweater collection.”
