Chicago weather has been a bit up and down lately. It has been hard figuring out what to wear when the weather is warm one day and cold the next. A classic staple piece that you can not go wrong with is the black and white stripe shirt. A classic pieces like this builds the foundation for your wardrobe. The striped shirt can easily be transitioned into any season. Stripes have persevered through many trends, seasons and can be dated back to it’s origins in the 1850s French navy.

The striped shirt is a timeless piece that is on-trend often. Nautical stripes have lasted so long because they are effortless and easy to pull off. They can be dressed up or down depending on how you accessorize it. Just because it is spring does not mean you have to shy away from wearing black and white. Stripes can be worn across all seasons.

This Fashionista has incorporated a black and white striped shirt in this nautical 1950s inspired outfit. A long sleeved crop top is a fresh, modern take on vintage style. This top is perfect for covering up on cold spring days while integrating a warm weather silhouette. She paired this top with high-waisted blue denim jeans to play up the vintage look of the ’50s. Black lace-up booties ties the outfit together nicely. She completes the look with a black floppy hat, gold rings and quartz earrings.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “This black and white crop top is very trendy! Stripes are so versatile that they can be worn with almost anything. Don’t be afraid to wear this bold pattern.”
