STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Leather Weather

Happy fall, Fashionistas/os! Well, sort of. If you’re a southern California dweller like myself, than you haven’t experienced much fall weather yet. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t start incorporating our favorite fall textures into our wardrobes!

Leather has always had a reputation of being “tough.” Throw on a leather motorcycle jacket and boom! Instant bad boy or bad girl. Over the years, leather has evolved to take on alternate forms such as leggings, shorts, dresses, skirts etc. Trends have come and gone, but recently it appears that leather skirts are circling back around. Specifically, leather skirts with cool detailing and embellishments seem to be the new “it” piece for transitioning into fall style.

The zipper details on this Fashionista’s leather skirt immediately caught my eye. And bonus: the side zippers double as pockets! The middle zipper that stretches diagonally across the skirt creates an asymmetrical fit that is unique from other styles that I have seen. Basically, this skirt is goals.

The sun was beating down hard that October day (surprise, surprise) but she didn’t let that stop her from pairing her mini skirt with a graphic tee spelling out “GIRL GANG.” A T-shirt with a feisty catchphrase is the perfect complement to the toughness of leather bottoms, but the soft peachy color of the tee added just the right amount of flirty to this look. This Fashionista finished off her effortlessly cool look with Converse shoes, but adding a pair of lace-up booties can take this outfit from day to night.

Some of you may be thinking I’m crazy and that it’s still way to hot for leather garments. If that’s the case, then at least you’ll have something to look forward to when the weather starts cooling down! How will you style your leather this season?
