STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Lay It On Me

Okay, it’s time for a reality check. The Jersey weather obviously did not get the memo that it is springtime. Although we have hints of spring weather here and there, New Jersey just hasn’t caught up yet. I know everyone is ready to bust out their spring wardrobe. I mean, who isn’t excited to wear bright colors, breezy tops and maxi dresses? But before we get too ahead of ourselves, we need to dress weather appropriate. This Fashionista did exactly that!

I remember my track coach would always say, “Dress in layers so you are ready for any type of weather.” And that’s how you deal with the weather we are having now—you dress in layers! Today’s featured Fashionista, perfected the layering technique by draping herself first with a printed open knit cardigan. Then, she tops it with a long-lined textured gray coat. Under her layers, she sticks with a plain black blouse so that the print from the cardigan can really stand out. She tucks her blouse in a cute burgundy pleated skirt. To keep her feet warm, she walks around in a pair of black boots and adds a little more detail by wearing black knee-high socks. These combinations of textures, colors and styles created an ideal transition outfit.

So if you are living somewhere with New Jersey weather like us, take some advice from Ariel. She definitely knows what’s she doing.
