STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Lavished In Leather

When thinking of leather jackets, I am always reminded of the boys in the movie Grease. Their slicked back hair, tinted aviators and “too cool for school” attitude is enough to make any girl’s heart throb. A leather jacket is one of my most favorite clothing items for both men and women because I believe it’s a timeless piece—I can’t imagine that it will ever go out of style.

I know what you’re thinking: a leather jacket in the spring? On the streets of Chicago, those wind chills are enough to make you want to bundle up even when the sun is out. I’ve noticed many men and women wearing a leather jacket as their staple piece for the early spring days. A leather jacket is a good transition piece for when it’s a bit cooler outside. It’s classic; neutral enough to pair with almost any shirt/pant combination and it’s somewhat edgy.

There are different types of leather jackets, so choose a jacket that fits best to your personal style. Some of the popular jackets include classic, quilted and studded detailing.

This fashion-forward student is layering a black leather jacket over a patterned button-up. On the bottom, he is wearing black skinny jeans and light brown oxford shoes. He is rocking a pair of aviators for extra style points. His look is overall modern, edgy and is a great representation of Chicago Fashionistos’ street style.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always dress your best. If it makes you feel good, wear it. If you’re confident, then you are dressing your best.”
