STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Kool Kimonos

Now that it is March here in New York City, the weather is all over the place! One day it’s rainy, the next day it’s warm and the next day it’s as humid as the Amazon Rainforest. The list goes on. As the weather here in the Northeast adjusts to the spring months, it’s hard to know how to dress for the ever-changing climate. You want to wear a light jacket to make your commute a little more breezy, but also don’t want to be sweating when you get to class because the heat is still going from the winter months.

Dressing in layers is one way to make sure you are comfortable during the transition from winter to spring. This Fashionista is sporting an amazing kimono wrap top along with some safety pin earrings, cool leggings and holographic sneakers. This is such an easy staple to have in your closet because you can wear a tank top under it for added warmth, or wear it open if it gets a little warmer. It’s easy, breezy and allows air to flow through the garment due to the wide sleeve and armhole. Also, if you get a bit cold, you can wrap it extra tight with the belt and it’s thin enough to layer a jacket over, like this Fashionista did. Kimonos are so versatile, comfortable, flattering on all body types and are great layering pieces as we wait for spring to come!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Kimonos are amazing and the key to finding a perfect one is to look at the fabrication. Look for a natural fabric, like cotton, that will allow air to flow, but is heavy enough, like canvas, to keep you warm.”
