STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Jack “et” Up

With fall on the horizon, the question, “what’s in my fall wardrobe?” keeps crossing my mind. It can be hard to remember what you already have in your closet and what you need for the upcoming season. However, after running into this Fashionista on the streets of SoHo, I was inspired to add a new item my fall wardrobe: a printed jacket.

By pairing this spunky jacket with a strong line-up of fall basics, this Fashionista shows the ease and usefulness of the piece. Underneath the jacket, she has a simple, off-white graphic T-shirt with a boho design. Graphic T-shirts are a great transitional piece for summer into fall as they can go with denim shorts and sandals in late August and then jeans, a cardigan and boots as late September rolls around. She paired her T-shirt with another fall classic: dark wash denim. This Fashionista’s dark wash, flare jeans are a great investment because they are perfect for many different occasions. A darker wash can be more formal, thus pairing these with a cute wedge and dressy top can make for a great going out look. She is wearing them with a cute pair of gold studded, peep toe wedges on her way to work. Go-to brown wedges are always good for summer but can work for the beginning of fall as well. Also, wedges are the perfect compliment to flare jeans as the longer jacket and the flare jeans could look frumpy or overwhelming with too much fabric, especially on a smaller frame. For colder weather, a chunky heeled bootie could work the same way.

To accessorize, she kept it simple and gold. Her black and gold rings are similar but not identical and play off of each other really well. She also has on a small chain necklace with a tiny pendant as to not overpower the busy jacket and shirt combination she already has up top.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “For fall, I usually think, first and foremost, about comfort and to me a T-shirt and jeans is the most comfortable outfit I own. Finding the right denim is a fall must.”
