STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: He Means Business

“Every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man!” It’s true that a well tailored suit on a man is appealing. But even with the crisp lines and details, business attire can be bland. The benefits of the corporate world are almost infinite; the salary, the opportunities and the lifestyle. However, one drawback may be the dress code. But that’s only if you give into the trap. In a world of numbers and logistics it can be a battle to express yourself and comply with the aesthetic of the workplace, especially as a young, stylish, intern. You have to prove that you’re capable of doing the job, but it would also be irresponsible of a Fashionista/o to neglect his/hers style.

This Fashionisto did a great job pulling off this balancing act. With the same silhouette of the CEO’s suit, he managed to add some color and excitement to the “boss” attire. Keeping true to the office color scheme, his look is predominantly navy with his pants and button-down. To offset the monochrome, he includes a bright burgundy blazer and floral print tie. The colors don’t stray too far from one another and help to accomplish a formal yet individual look. Light brown shoes with the matching belt introduces another neutral while still keeping the look on the brighter side. This Fashionisto used styling techniques that could work for both women and men in the corporate world.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Wear what you like. It doesn’t matter what others think. As long as you like it you’ve already won. If they like it too then it’s just a bonus. My outfit was inspired by two of my favorite things, the color burgundy and flowers. I wanted to incorporate that into something professional since I was wearing it in a corporate setting, and this is what I came up with.”
