STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Easy Peasy Lemon TEEzy

School is in full swing and the anticipation of throwing on an outfit similar to that first day of school outfit is slowly fading. But have no fear! I have a solution that will make you look cute and feel super comfy, what more can a girl ask for? The secret—the T-shirt dress. I know what you’re thinking, something so simple that flew right over everyone’s heads. T-shirt dresses have become a staple in every girl’s closet recently and I totally understand why! It is such a simple piece you can throw on and look fierce without sacrificing your comfort.

The best part of this piece is, it is beyond versatile. Running late to class? T-shirt dress. Going on a date with a cute boy tonight? T-shirt dress. Brunch? T-shirt dress. Doing errands around town? T-shirt dress. What I love most about this trend is that you can dress it down by throwing your hair up in a messy bun with some Birkenstocks or dress it up with some booties, an edgy jacket and some jewelry. You can also rock this dress rain or shine. Being in New England, the weather changes basically by the hour and you can easily switch out sandals for tights, boots and a warm scarf. The possibilities are endless!

The simplicity of the T-shirt dress is what makes it so special. On the hanger, it may look like one of your dads old XL T-shirts, but on, it changes and morphs to your style. Think of it as the white tank top of our generation. Everyone owns one, but it’s how you add to it that makes it unique. For the beachy girl, it could be a cover up over a bikini after a long day of surfing. For the indie girl, she would pair it with some Dr. Martens, a distressed jean jacket and a choker to go to see her favorite band. For the city girl, it’s the dress she wears out on the town with a leather jacket, heels and a killer purse. At the end of the day, this piece embodies you.

The Fashionista above spent her day going from class to class rocking a black and white striped dress and maroon Converse. To dress it up a little bit, she threw on some silver rings and a necklace with pops of turquoise. The color in her shoes and jewelry brightens up the outfit by throwing in splashes of color.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I don’t really consider myself a girly-girl but I think the T-shirt dress is every inner-tomboy’s secret to getting away with wearing a dress and still feeling comfortable. It’s easy and you can pair it with almost anything!”
