STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Destroyed Denim

Every Fashionista and Fashionisto knows a great pair of denim is always a necessity for his or her closet. Until recently, skinny denim or even jeggings have been the ongoing trends, but this spring season, destroyed denim is having a major comeback moment. Of course, it has always been around, but I haven’t seen this many holes since the middle school days. Now you need to add your perfect pair of destroyed denim to the mix this season.

I spotted this Fashionista walking the streets of Bloomington in style. Her outfit had a fantastic and effortless look. Her bright white tank and black accents really popped against her light wash jeggings. One of my favorite thing about the spring season is the jeans keep getting lighter and lighter. Overall, denim trends have all been leaning towards lighter washes. Check out American Eagle Outfitters for your new pair.

The great thing about destroyed denim is it comes in all jean styles. This Fashionista has a tighter fit, but boyfriend jeans have been popular as well. If you think they don’t fit you right, try going up from your normal size. The style is supposed to be extremely baggy and boyish. Zara has an amazing pair of destroyed, boyfriend style pants. You could even get creative and save a little money by destroying a pair of old jeans yourself. Take scissors or even a cheese grater to ripe holes into your pants. Who knew purposefully destroying your own clothing could be so trendy?

Another thing I love about her look is her black accents. Gladiator sandals have also been making their appearance known this season. Her pair is just around the ankle, but lately the shoe has been getting taller and taller. Some gladiator sandals even wrap up to Fashionistas’ knees. Steve Madden has this look in black and cognac.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love these jeans because they have the perfect amount of destroy. When searching for you pair, this is the most important part.”
