STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bold Colors

Let’s be honest, it can be hard for a guy to be fashionable against women who have many more fashion options. However, my friend James (aka one of the most fashionable men I know) shows you how guys do not have to be restricted when it comes to fashion. In his eyes, the key to getting out of the black, white, navy and gray outfit rut that guys sometimes can be stuck in is to use bold colors and prints.

Just because its fall does not mean that a preppy individual has to put away his colors. While “fashion rules’ may state that fall is time for dark tones, these rules are meant to be broken. One can only be a trendsetter once they step out of the box that society puts on seasonal fashions.

Typically, a pop of color tends to be worn on the top of an outfit, and the bottom is kept neutral with a pair of jeans or khakis. Here, James shows you the fashionable way to wear color on the bottom half of an outfit and prints on the top. The salmon pants pull the coordinating salmon color from the print of his button-up. He carries a navy blazer for when the fall wind picks up and coordinates his brown belt to his brown dress shoes. Accessorized with a silver watch, James certainly knows how to rock some color.

So guys, before you tuck away your printed dress shirts and bright pants to the back of your closet for the season, think twice about how you can transition your outfits from summer to fall and break the “fashion guidelines!”
