STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: All Tied Up

April 8th, 2016 at 2:00am

Fashion trends are constantly coming back – bell bottoms, high-waisted pants, platform shoes. The ’60s and ’70s in particular are full of styles that are too fabulous to leave behind. One almost-forgotten trend that has come back full force is neck scarves. From the Kardashians and Hadids, to the runway shows of Fall Fashion Week 2015, and retail stores like H&M, scarves and chokers are everywhere.

Taking a cue from the hippie-style silk scarves or the more French-looking knotted neckerchief, this look has a very chic, European vibe to it. So ditch the statement necklace and try the more colorful, on trend alternative like this Fashionista did. One of the best pairings is a blazer and a tied scarf for a professional, yet fashionable, look. She is wearing a straight black jacket from Zara, with a navy blue bandana-print scarf. Underneath she is wearing a simple black tank top, and distressed boyfriend jeans, like ones you can find at MANGO. She cuffs the bottom to show off her adorable lace-up black flats, also from Zara. She finishes the look with a leather bag from a boutique in Florence, making up an outfit that could be right off of a European city street.

If you want to go for the scarf or choker look, some great places to start are ShopStyle.com for designer finds, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Some of my favorite pieces of clothing are my black blazer and boyfriend jeans. I can dress the jeans down for a casual boho look, and use the blazer for an effortless professional look. The neck scarf is my new favorite thing, because you can add a pop of color to every outfit!”
