STYLE ADVICE: Dressing For Spring

April 19th, 2017 at 2:00am

Spring is here, and it’s time to rejoice and feel that vitamin D on your skin! You can finally toss your sweat pants aside and finish off your semester looking cute! Spring trends scream classic and ethereal. Sticking with pastels, earth tones, and, yes, florals are a classic move but they work. In order to transition effectively, try sticking to one statement piece and subtle accessories. Do not overdo the patterns for the sake of matching.

Try sporting a floral dress or lounge pants to keep the look grounded. Add basic pieces like a white or gray crop top, or a long mustard or green cardigan to pull it all together.

Keep the prints simple, and stay away from large blown up prints. They will unfortunately make you look a bit gaudy and, frankly, tacky. Since you are dressing for warmer weather, pick pieces with breathable fabrics like cotton, silk, or chiffon. Pair with sleek ballet flats or oxfords. If you are into ankle boots, try a pair of cutout boots, and you are done.

Additionally pair your outfit with delicate accessories, as well.Trend pieces like hoop earrings are all the rage. Keep them large but not too big; silver or gold are always flattering when it comes to hoops. Don’t be afraid to sport a bright bold lip or a fun manicure. If you are tired of classic red or brown shades, try a bright orange or a sepia lipstick shade to mix it up. For your nails, try using bright pastel shades like lavender, blue, or even olive green!
