STYLE GURU BIO: Sarah Selip

Well hello my beautiful people! My name is Sarah Selip and I am a junior at Saint Vincent College majoring in Communications with a minor in Marketing.

When I’m not trying to take the fashion world by storm, I’m a tennis player, blogger and coffee addict. If college had superlatives, I’d probably win “most likely to be found in Starbucks.”

How would I define my style? Classic preppy with a modern twist. My style icon has, and always will be, Jackie Kennedy. My closet can be summed up as an accumulation of J.Crew, stripes, button-downs and shift dresses. I believe that pearls or a statement necklace can be acceptable for almost every occassion, although as a student athlete, I can really appreciate the athleisure trend for lazy days.

As a product of over 12 years of private schooling, I try to take full advantage of not having to wear plaid skirts and knee socks every day. As Tom Ford said, “dressing well is a form of good manners” and I tend to live by that; I’m a firm believer in overdressing. I’ve always prefered to be the girl in red when everyone else is wearing black, so why try and blend in when you have every opportunity to stand out?

This summer I decided to try and incorporate many more basic pieces into my wardrobe. A few of my staple pieces included silk camis, linen skirts and some comfy but chic sandals. They’re called wardrobe staples for a reason—they’re perfect to build an outfit around.

I can’t wait to start sharing another semester of the best of Bearcat fashion with you all! Keep posted and happy styling!
