A Guide to the Perfect Summer Glam

Between Instagram’s quick tutorials or YouTube videos giving you step by step instructions, makeup has been a huge up and coming trend over the past few years. Millions of girls and guys have become obsessed with doing makeup, and showing it off to the world via social media—including myself!

A common dilemma many people tend to have when summer comes around is finding a happy medium between doing their makeup and letting their natural tan shine through. What I’ve noticed has been a big trend for a summer makeup routine is light mascara, no foundation, a little bit of bronzer to exaggerate your own tan—and, of course, a highlight to get that glow going. But, I have decided to create my own summer look that I find to be a perfect medium of showing my natural tan and getting glammed up.

How to recreate my summer glam

To begin my look, my first step is to always start off by making sure I give myself bold eyebrows. For this, I use the Anastasia Beverley Hills Dip Brow to exaggerate them but still keep them looking pretty natural. Then, I move onto my eyes by using the Modern Renaissance palette which is by far my absolute favorite. I have a decently tan skin tone, so to keep the natural look going, I lean towards using the colors Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, and Golden Ochre. These three combined give me the perfect amount of color but still keeps it simple. I use Ardell Demi Wispies to give my eyelashes a bold finish.

Next, I move onto my face. In the summer, I love to show off my tan, so I rarely wear foundation. So, to give my cheekbones a strong definition, I use Hoola Bronzer. Then onto my favorite part, highlighting. I apply MAC ‘Mineralize’ Skinfinish to the highest points of my cheekbones, nose, and my brow bone. Last but not least, let’s not forget about our lips. On my lips, I use Revlon’s Ultra HD Matte lip color in ‘Glam’ to give myself a slightly pinker lip, and just like that, my perfect summer glam is ready to take on the day!
