Good Vibes Only: 3 Simple Ways To Stay Positive Today

Being a college student means your life is crazy busy, constantly changing, and full of brand new experiences. Every moment is a fresh adventure, and as exciting as that is, it can be hard to stay peppy and positive when you feel like life is moving a thousand miles per hour and you don’t know what’s around the corner. All you need is a little guidance on how to maintain good vibes on a daily basis, and we are here to help!

give yourself a manta or affirmation

Surround yourself with inspiration. Putting words of encouragement around you helps more than you realize. When you’re feeling stressed, glancing at one of your favorite quotes on the wall can change your mood. Having positive messages on your walls, phone lock screen, and even on your clothes can remind you how awesome it is to stay positive.

Additionally, a simple “You got this” can help you realize that you’re doing okay. You are capable of more than you know. A step toward positivity is as simple as transforming a blank wall to a gallery wall. I love prints that feature uplifting quotes, and they add a fun flair to your room. You can also just pin a bunch of small quotes onto a cork board like featured above. There are so many ways to plaster positivity around you.

What you watch, read, stay updated with, and much more can all affect your mood and outlook. Studies say too much phone time can cause more anxiety. Try to replace an hour of Twitter with an hour of reading an uplifting book. Unhealthy distractions affect how we feel on a daily basis, and in college it is vital to be aware of what we should cut out. This will not only help how you feel but will also give you more free time to be productive. Whether helping yourself looks like cutting down on social stressors or just penciling in time to read encouraging books, you will notice more good vibes.

This one may be hard to hear, but your friends have a huge impact on you. Sometimes the reason you feel weighed down can be because of the people you surround yourself with. Don’t feel bad about removing toxic influences from your life. We have all befriended the wrong people at times, and it’s okay to realize you’re better off without some people as friends. Surrounding yourself with positive influences makes a world of difference. Take a look at your friends, and consider how they make you feel after a while. Always remember that you deserve to feel encouraged and loved.

  1. I am going to take the step to having more good vibes in my life by taking a break from social media. I love social media but sometimes I need a break from it! Great article!

  2. As the semester get closer to finals it can get extremely overwhelming! Disconnecting from social media is something I actively try to do every few days or so in order to just collect myself and get in a balanced state.
