When thinking about makeup, we would like to think that purchasing and applying these products are as “Easy, breezy, beautiful” as Covergirl would say, but is it? The amount of effort that comes with the different steps of doing makeup can be overwhelming as well as time consuming; not to mention the price for some makeup prices can be quite ridiculous and scare our wallets a bit! Highlighting is one of the most talked about makeup trends in today’s generation. Hearing phrases like, “glow girl” is a common compliment referring to a girl’s highlight.

Thanks to beauty queens like Kylie Jenner, the makeup industry has grown in many ways. This includes the rise of the successful entrepreneur, Kylie Jenner, with her makeup line. Since its launch back in 2016, Kylie Jenner Cosmetics has been endlessly selling out on her online shop, and with her latest drop on “Kylighters,” which are gorgeous highlighters, the demand for this makeup product keeps going up. The prices for these beauty products on her online shop range from $20 to $45. I love Kylie, but don’t get me wrong, us college students have a budget: money for food and tuition obviously comes first!

For those who do not want to wait for the restock or purchase an overpriced item, we have a solution for you! This beauty hack is not expensive in any way and does not even require going to a store to buy it because we are sure every girl that owns makeup owns at least one eye shadow pallet. Yes, really: eye shadow!

The Trick…

As low as $5, you can make your own highlighter using glittery or white eye shadow! This is more like a DIY if you really want to mix with your eye shadows to get that perfect “glow” look. Creamy eye shadows work best for this beauty hack because they will stand out more with foundation. It will give your face a true and natural shine.

Drug store brands work for this look because the quality of the eye shadow can also be enhanced through wetting your brush before applying the highlight. If the highlight is not giving you enough glow, wet your brush under the sink and dip it back into the pallet.

So, back to the quote that started this… It is “Easy, breezy, beautiful,” just like Covergirl says. (Once you know all the beauty hacks, of course!). Highlighters for low prices can be a girl’s lifesaver because, honestly, who doesn’t want to glow? Better yet, who doesn’t want to glow using affordable products that work just as good as luxury products?
