FASHION FROM ABROAD: Parisian-Chic

Street style is something that we Fashionista/os look at most for the newest and hottest trends. From all over the world people gather at fashion weeks shows such as London, Paris and New York and yes, of course, the runway trends are important but what attendees wear to the shows may be even more important. Fashionistas/os use street style trends to make it easier to emulate because let’s face it, sometimes designers make it difficult to imitate their designs into our own styles.

Parisian street style is like nothing I’ve ever seen before; people always look their best but in a natural, simple way. A Parisian is never seen in sweatpants or even leggings—yes ladies, it can be done. Their hair is always messy-chic and just a touch of makeup will do and they wouldn’t have it any other way. In my semester abroad, I have seen many renditions of the same looks; jeans, a cozy sweater, camel-colored wool jackets and their signature black and white adidas sneakers. While I love this look, my favorite Parisian style is the semi-casual look.

In the city of love, the semi-casual look is essential because you never know who you’re going to run into. They always say you should dress as if you are going to meet the love of your life or your worst enemy; whichever one it is, you should always dress your best.
This Fashionista is wearing a pair of tapered joggers which were said to be purchased at a local boutique near her flat. Similar ones can be found here. The top she is rocking is a cheetah-printed, sleeveless blouse which was purchased at H&M. The slip-on shoes are one of this Fashionista’s most worn items in her closet because as she describes them, they are “perfect for casual and dressed-up looks.” The bag is an essential piece for any Parisian—a monochromatic handbag is said to bring the look together. As this bag was purchased near the Sacre-Coeur, this small tote could be another perfect addition to this outfit.

Captured: This Fashionista is a fellow student of mine at the Institute Catholique de Paris who loves to emulate the Parisian style into her everyday attire. This photo was taken in the 15th district of Paris on rue de Presles, two streets over from the Eiffel Tower. The architecture is simply beautiful, picture perfect even. This area is filled with Fashionista/os looking their best while visiting one of the most well-known landmarks in the “City of Lights.”
