FASHION FROM ABROAD: Nice Is Just A Place In France

April 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

I have always wanted to go to the south of France and after a week of midterms, I was ready for a holiday in the sun. The images I had seen of blue water, colorful buildings and intricate markets filled with fresh fruit and vegetables came to life during my weekend trip to Nice, France. Not only was I exposed to sunshine and the ocean, but I also got a glimpse of some new, warm weather college fashion trends.

I really like the look of button-downs, but I always get nervous that I’ll look too preppy or even too high-strung if I wear one—and so they sit in the back of my closet with the little Polo horses waiting to be worn. This Fashionista showed me how to casually wear a button-down and make it perfect for a sunny spring day in Europe. Her look shows class and style while also bringing in some essential spring trend elements.

This Fashionista’s color scheme is awesome, especially for the beachy location! The color blue surrounded me during my trip in Nice. The sky was without a cloud, the sea was a clear turquoise and the rocks on the beach even had a grayish-blue tint. This Fashionista pulled together multiple shades of blue in her spring ensemble, mixing patterns and shades to complete the look. Her boyfriend jeans were one of my favorite pieces in her outfit and are an absolute spring essential. Boyfriend jeans bring in comfort and style, while their casual fit and cuffed ankles add some diversity to the outfit. This Fashionista used them to dress down her button-down and create a slouchy, cool vibe.

A loosely tucked in button-down with a few opened buttons at the top is a trendy way to wear an otherwise sophisticated item. While button-downs have the tendency to give off a very straight-edge image, follow this Fashionista and loosen up a few buttons for a casual look.

The perfect look for a weekend welcoming the spring weather, this Fashionista has European-chic down!
