FASHION FROM ABROAD: Down By the Arno

Packing for a vacation can be hard, but packing for a vacation from your study abroad city can be even more difficult. Already you’re limited; you have only your abroad wardrobe to choose from. When visiting friends studying in other European cities, you’ll want to look your best, especially in preparation for the loads of pictures you and your friend are going to take. What is especially tricky however, is packing for the conditions and occasions you will encounter on your visit.

This Fashionista approaches the issue of packing to visit from one abroad city to another by incorporating versatile and simple pieces, in order to layer and mix and match. Our Fashionista is located in beautiful Cork, Ireland for the semester, and paid me a visit in historical Florence, Italy for her Spring Break. Being aware of the unpredictable conditions of early spring in Tuscany, this Fashionista came prepared with everything from summery gladiator sandals to warm winter sweaters.

As she put together an outfit for our day of sightseeing, she paired her Express light-wash “girlfriend” jeans with a simple black cowl neck sweater. In order to accessorize and add warmth for the chilly Florentine evening, this Fashionista adds a voluminous blanket scarf with fringe detail. In addition, she wears adidas Superstars to match with the white flecks in the blanket scarf.

The look is completed with small earrings, rings, a black cross-body satchel and a white watch. The Fashionista wears the outfit with confidence knowing she is comfortable, ready for any weather and stylish all the while.

Captured: The Fashionista is pictured on Ponte Santa Trinita in Florence, Italy. While the sun sets on the Arno River, this Fashionista can wrap herself up in a simple scarf while maintaining her casual yet chic ensemble. Dressing for abroad visits has never looked so effortless.
