Distortion Apps are the Latest Trend of Photo Editing on Instagram

If you are an Instagram junkie like myself, you might have noticed that the typical laid back blogger picture (and video) now has a new look. That’s right! Clean and chic pictures are now being edited with apps that distort images. What was originally a high-quality image now a distortion effect on it to make it appear more edgy and abstract. These distortions can be seen in both photos and videos.

Usually, alternative brands like UNIF and Petals and Peacocks and alternative bloggers use certain apps to create 3D images to add holographic blur effects, gradients, or lens flares. Now, street style bloggers are starting to do the same as well. Curious about what apps to use to make your pictures come out the same way? Here are two that are available on the App Store:

1—Glitché. This app is currently available on the App Store for 99 cents. It comes with 35 preset filters that you can use in order to make your pictures stand out visually and artistically. From glitching photos to turning them entirely into emoji, have fun deciding which one you want to use! It might be even harder than deciding which one out of a thousand selfies makes the cut to be posted on Instagram. It definitely takes some time to learn how to use it.

2—Edit Lab. If you aren’t in the mood to go all edit-crazy, use this app to add a gradient or lens flare to your pictures. It’s easier to use than Glitché, but it offers less options—unless you purchase the upgrade, which will then allow you to remove the watermark. Here’s an insider hack: once you make your edit, save it to your camera roll and simply crop out the watermark!

What do you think about these apps? Would you edit your pictures using them, or would it disrupt your current Instagram aesthetic? Let me know in the comments below!
