BEAUTY BAR: Think Pink Hair Flip

December 7th, 2016 at 2:00am

“Everything goes pink! I want the whole issue pink; I want the whole country pink!”

Ever since watching Kay Thompson in Funny Face‘s iconic “Think Pink” scene, I have developed quite the affinity for rose and blush colored hues. To me, there’s just something very calming about looking at the color. Almost everything looks good when it’s in pink and the fashion sphere has incorporated it this season in so many new and interesting ways. After all, the 2016 Pantone Color of the Year is Rose Quartz (along with Serenity, a pale blue shade). We’ve seen pink mirrored sunglasses, pink faux fur, pink bomber jackets, just to name a few. No designer, no editor, no Style Guru nor Fashionista can resist a pretty splash of pink.

Now let’s just take a moment to fangirl over this Fashionista, okay? She has embraced pink by making it a part of her everyday look, taking the trend to a whole new commitment level. I love how she just lets her hair stand out by wearing a monochromatic outfit and keeping the jewelry to a minimum with her dainty gold earrings and Medusa piercing. In doing so, I think this really intensifies the color of her hair. For those who are completely devoted to only wearing black, this is also a great example of how you can add more color to your outfit without sacrificing the sophistication of an all-black outfit. I mean, let’s be honest here, our hair is totally a part of our outfits. It’s not just hair anymore, it’s an accessory! Color wise, this Fashionista doesn’t just stop at pink. Her look is paired with winged cobalt blue eyeliner and mauve liquid lipstick from Jeffree Star.

Achieving this hair color can be very easy or very difficult depending on what you’re already working with. This Fashionista already had lightened hair so she just dyed it herself using Bleach London in the shade Rosé. However, if you have dark hair, I highly recommend consulting and getting your hair bleached with a professional first. There is no fashion trend worth burning your hair over! As for hair care, always use a shampoo and conditioner that’s designed for colored hair and treat yourself with a weekly nourishing hair mask.

Now queue the sassy hair flip!
