BEAUTY BAR: Spring and Summer Eyes

I like to think of my posts as a sort of memory of what I loved (in fashion) during this season, so I can look back for inspiration or nostalgia of my freshman year here at the beautiful Florida State. I’ve been seeing this eye look all over campus, as well as during the magazine photo shoots I’ve participated in this semester, and I absolutely love it.

This Fashionista pulls off this perfect reddish-gold smokey eye perfectly! To create it, she told me she uses a combination of the Morphe 350 palette and the Makeup Geek Holiday eyeshadow bundle. This strong lid should be the focus of the face, so she uses a soft nude color by Tarte for the lip. For a stronger nighttime look, you can add a darker contour to the cheeks and sides of the nose. She also told me she used a BECCA highlighter, and we both agree they are some of the best highlighters in the game right now.

I know one of the hardest challenges for me is finding a perfect moisturizer or foundation. This Fashionista recommended her combo of Clinique Total Hydration cream, Stila 1 Step Correct, and Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation. However if you have dry skin, I recommend using skin products that are liquid-based. Personally, I think this exact color scheme on the eyes looks best on blondes. For brunettes, adding a deeper red or purple-ish tones can work well too. For redheads like me, a brown version would be optimal. Taking specific looks and making them your own is one of the best ways to wear makeup. For her outfit, she wears a burgundy cold shoulder dress with black lace-up sandals. For accessories she pairs a few gold bracelets with a small necklace.
