BEAUTY BAR: Graduation Season

The semester has finally come to an end, and graduation season is upon us. It’s a bittersweet kind of season, especially knowing so many people graduating. I offered to put my camera to use and take pictures of a group of my friends all dressed up in their caps, gowns and graduation dresses, which helped me see the styles and trends that seemed to be popular this season. This Fashionista is one of those girls that always looks put together, even when she’s in a sweatshirt and leggings. It’s a skill I have become envious of over the last two years that I’ve known her. Going into this mini photoshoot for my friends, I knew to look out for this Fashionista’s hair and makeup, and in my opinion, she totally nailed it.

She wore her hair loosely curled, which gave her a very dainty, delicate vibe that matched her pale pink sundress perfectly. She used a Conair 1.25 inch curling iron, which has a bigger barrel and creates larger curls. For her makeup, she used silvers and grays from her Urban Decay Naked Smoky palette to create a smoky eye look, adding glitter using the Urban Decay Moondust palette. Smoky eye makeup looks bring attention to the eyes and make the full look more dramatic overall. I applaud her for achieving a smoky eye that is appropriate for the daytime. She used liquid eyeliner as well as volumizing mascara to finish off her eyes, both from L’Oreal. She then used Maybelline foundation to even out her skin tone and the Too Faced Cocoa Contour palette to sculpt out her cheeks and brighten her under eyes.

The next morning, I was lucky enough to watch this Fashionista and a ton of our friends walk across the stage and receive their diplomas. Her look was on-point with other girls who were graduating, and I could feel her confidence and happiness from the stands.
