BEAUTY BAR: Color Pop

When I think of an all-black outfit, I immediately think of a ninja. Like many other busy college students, a major staple in my wardrobe is black, and I really do have to stop myself from resorting to ninja status on busy days. While black is slimming and matches with everything, working in color brightens up any look, and is especially fun to wear as spring approaches.

As the weather gets warmer, the Philadelphia fashion scene grows brighter by the day. Easter brights and pastels are around the corner. The shift from winter to spring does not happen all at once. Brights and other warmer colors start out small and in the details and accessories. This happens slowly, but is a progression that I am noticing with snow still on the ground.

The color used in her hair and makeup are what make this look stand out. While she is in all-black, I would never consider this look to be boring or lazy. The ombrè, high ponytail and bright lipstick are what bring this awesome look together. The all-black outfit gives her the opportunity to wear bold makeup without overwhelming the outfit. Her hair and makeup also bring attention to the silver zippers and buckles of the leather jacket and black booties, which are great staple pieces for any wardrobe.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR:  This look pops due to the fact that she is wearing bold makeup. She wore this pink lipstick, which looks great with her skin tone. Her eyeliner and contouring is easy to replicate and works during the day and at night as well. The ombrè in her hair is accentuated and works as an accessory to the outfit. This is done by her wearing her hair in a high pony tail. A dark, simple outfit gives you the opportunity to have fun with your hair and make up! Try not to let it go to waste and use brighter or darker tones that you haven’t tried before.
