BEAUTY BAR: Classic Romance

This season I have noticed that many makeup trends are leaning towards cooler tones, which matches the crispness in the air and the bite on the tip of your nose. Icy blues and shiny silvers covered the winter runways and continue to flood out Instagram feeds. However, this featured Fashionista and I agree that for our makeup looks, we like to use warmer tones in the winter because it gives you back what you are missing… warmth!

There is an elegance, an effortlessness to the way that this Fashionista tailors her beauty to her ensemble. It is comparable to the way a Master Sommelier might pair Domaine Carneros Vintage Brut with a buttery triple cream. Her choice in pigments complements the colors throughout the pattern on her dress, adding an innate simplicity to her beauty look.

On her eyes, she utilized the Nude Dude Eyeshadow Palette from The Balm in the colors “Flirty” and “Funny” for the subtle cut crease, and “Fabulous” and “Faithful” for the lid and the highlight. This palette is great for adding a little bit of sparkle to your lid, but should be layered for a deeper color (it’s also hilarious, seriously take a look at it). To create a richer pigmentation to the cut crease, this Fashionista also used the color mauve from the LORAC PRO Palette for a bolder, more impactful eye. In my opinion, one cannot do a cut crease without the addition of a winged liner, it would be blasphemous! Stila All Day Liquid Liner gives this Fashionista the perfect wing to complete her eyes and keep the make up gods at peace.

Now, let’s talk about lips. Lip kits have been all the rage over the past 18 months. From the launch of Kylie Cosmetics to the infamous feud between Kat Von D and Jeffree Star, liquid lipsticks have become an essential part to any girl or boy’s (shoutout to James Charles!) make up collection. This Fashionista is no different. Her favorite liquid lip? Colourpop. This brand gives you that designer quality for a fraction of the price, making it absolutely perfect for ballers on a budget. For this particular look, she uses Colourpop’s Ultra Matte Lip in “Trap,” a dusty greige that has slightly more sex appeal than your typical nude.

As an actress, this Fashionista has had her fair share of practice doing her hair for the stage. Her updo gives this look that “classic romance” feel, but also alludes to the fact that she runs this place. The combination of the flowing dress, the structured cape, and the effortlessly strategic twists and knots in her hair is the perfect pairing of sweet and powerful; my favorite kind of woman.
