BEAUTY BAR: Bun In The Sun

We all know that the summer heat can be miserable for people with long hair. There is nothing worse than spending a ton of time straightening or curling your hair and then stepping outside into the humid temperatures as you slowly watch all of your efforts go to waste. A simple solution for both guys and girls who are tired of their hair sticking to them in these torturous temperatures is a messy bun.

This Fashionisto is sporting none other than the infamous man bun. Man buns started to make their trend appearance in 2013, but have since become one of the most popular hairstyles for men. Boy band members Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, as well as celebrities such as Jared Leto and Chris Hemsworth are just a few of the men participating in this trend. These male celebrities are most likely responsible for the rapid outbreak and increasing popularity of the man bun. Recently more brands have been incorporating this hairstyle into their overall brand image. For example, Abercrombie & Fitch seems to be rebranding their image from preppy to more of a rugged look. Many of their male models are seen with unshaven faces and messy buns. Fortunately for us girls, I think this trend is here to stay!

I think man buns are the ideal look for guys with long hair, especially in this summer heat. It is such a simple and effortless hairstyle for those days when you are having a bad hair day, you’re in a rush, or if you just want to feel cool and comfortable.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To complete this look, all you need is long hair (obviously), a durable hair tie, a brush and some hair spray for those little fly-aways that we all know and love. For the best results I would suggest a styling hairspray with a strong hold so that all of your hair stays in the bun throughout the day.
