BEAUTY BAR: Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed

April 6th, 2016 at 2:10am

As college students, we have grown accustomed to sleepless nights and we have the dark under-eye circles to prove it. This Fashionista fought the 8:00 a.m. bags by applying her beauty skills to create a glowy fresh faced look. She demonstrates multiple beauty techniques to brighten her face and eyes all while keeping her look natural and simple. A naturally bright makeup look has been a constant trend in the fashion world and can be seen on the runways of Céline, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, just to name a few.

She started off her look with a fresh and luminous face. In order to camouflage baggy eyes, this Fashionista applied an under eye concealer that is two shades lighter than her foundation and blended it in seamlessly. She also applied a highlighting face cream to the cheekbones, top of the nose and cupid’s bow. This subtle shimmer brings life to her face by giving her a healthy glow.

In addition to the face, keeping your eyes light and bright will give the illusion of endless hours of beauty sleep. This Fashionista began with matte neutral shadows and added a white shimmer to the inner corners to brighten and widen her eyes. You can add an additional swipe of a shimmer to the center of the lids for a little extra glow. To further open up her eyes, she finished the look off with black winged liner and volumizing mascara.

This Fashionista accessorized her outfit with mixed metal jewelry pieces. These details, such as her crawler earrings and pendant necklace, brought attention to her face and added interest to her look.

While fashion will always hold a special place in my heart, beauty is truly my first love. Nothing gets me more excited than a pop of color on the lip or some bold brows. There are always new beauty products to share and tips to learn from others. Similar to the fashion world, the beauty community is full of inspiration, evolving trends and daring experimentation. Like fashion, makeup is an art form and a tool for self expression, but beyond these aspects, makeup has the power to build confidence. Sometimes a little shimmer on the cheek or razor sharp wings is all you need to take on the day.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR: To achieve this fresh-faced look, apply Maybelline’s dark circle concealer under the eyes, Benefit high beam for glowy cheeks, and a light shimmer eyeshadow for the inner corners of the eyes.
