BEAUTY BAR: Braided Bombshell

Summer is almost here, and for most of us with thick manes, this means a good hair day can be fairly rare. One popular trend I’ve been seeing lately is the textured half done braid, and braided up-dos to keep hair looking tame. With all the heat and humidity, it can become quite a challenge to keep hair sleek and styled. Fear no more—this Fashionista has the answer to all of your hair nightmares. Her half braided up-do is one of the many ways to control that unruly frizz caused by endless hot summer days and nights.

The key to achieving that effortless tousled look this summer is all about using the right products. If you can, try to stay away from exposing your hair to extreme amounts of heat, such as using straighteners and curling wands. However, if you find yourself unable to stay away from curling your hair, try to keep it healthy with leave-in conditioner or a split end mender. One of my favorite summertime hair products to use is sea salt spray. Just spritz a small amount into dry or damp hair, and twist the ends away from your face to create a wind tousled look. This spray is an amazing way to create natural texture in your hair, leaving you with that fresh from the beach feeling, and it doubles as hairspray to keep those braids in place as well.

This Fashionista kept it casual rocking her beaching braids while sporting a comfortable T-shirt dress. The funky bohemian print on her dress paired perfectly with her braided up-do and flowing beach waves. Overall, the detail in her jewels and super fun flower sunglasses are what tied the look together.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To create your own braided bombshell look, grab a bottle of Bb Surf Spray the next time you swing through Sephora. Since heat and humidity can really do a number on thick hair in the summer, try keeping the frizz at bay with OGX coconut anti-breakage serum. Finally, stop at your local drug store to snag a pack of small rubber bands for tying off your braids.
