AROUND TOWN: P.O.S.E. Annual Spring Fashion Show

When it comes to style and confidence, P.O.S.E. knows what they’re talking about. The University of Tennessee’s chapter of People Of Style and Education is a group of students who not only look to each other for style inspiration, but also for confidence, encouragement and self-expression. Every year they put together a fabulous runway show where they collaborate with local designers, brands and companies. This year, P.O.S.E. president Caci Bundy-Houston is determined to put on a good show. Every week she trains members on their runway walk and their ability to present artistic clothing in the best way possible. In between organization meetings and preparing for the show, Bundy-Houston got to explain how the extraordinary group of students works together in preparation for the big night.

Name: Caci Bundy-Houston

Role: P.O.S.E. President

CollegeFashionista: What was the first step in planning the P.O.S.E. fashion show?

Caci Bundy-Houston: The first step in planning the fashion show was coming up with a theme that would be different from fashion shows in the past. It wasn’t really that hard to come up with this year’s theme but we had a lot of things to think about in order to achieve the Around the World in Four Days.

CF: What was the inspiration behind the theme, Around the World in Four Days?

CB-H: We discussed covering fashion in other countries because it was an idea discussed in the previous years of P.O.S.E. We wanted to incorporate, culture, fashion, and diversity. So we included fashion inspired clothing from Africa, Europe, East Coast vs. West Coast and back to our college town Knoxville, TN.

CF: How did you and the rest of the organization members prepare for the show?

CB-H: I delegated tasks inside of our e-board to ensure that everyone had a part in planning. The different tasks were entertainment, vendors, venue, music and preparation for the show. The e-board members created committee’s within the general body in order to get everything well prepared.

CF: What are you most looking forward to about the event?

CB-H: I am most looking forward to seeing the models RIP THE RUNWAY. All of the models in P.O.S.E. have worked so hard for our fashion show and I can’t wait to see all their hard work pay off.

CF: What do you hope people that attend the event walk away with?

CB-H: I hope that the people who attend our fashion show walk away with a better appreciation of how diverse fashion can be. I also hope that they can sense a huge presence of confidence within each of our models. In P.O.S.E. one of our focus points when assisting in their modeling careers are instilling confidence as soon as they join the organization.
