How cool would it be to pick clothes out, have them sent to you each week and then wear them around campus to promote the brand? Well, that and hosting promotional events is exactly what these sophomore girls, Jessie Iacullo and Naomi Kliger, do on Pitt’s campus. CollegeFashionista: What is BooHoo?
Jessie Iacullo and Naomi Kliger: BooHoo is a UK based brand that is completely sold online. In the past year, they started to move to the United States by joining forces with 15 different Her Campus organizations on college campuses. Their clothes are very similar to those at Forever 21, TOBI or NASTY GAL. In order to promote the brand on campus, we have clothes sent to us, wear them around campus, use social media to promote the clothes and also hold one promotional event each semester.
CF: How did you get involved with BooHoo?
JI: I write for Pitt’s Her Campus, and the president sent me the application for the internship telling me I should apply. I then sent the application to Naomi and she applied as well.
NK: I am the Public Relations and Event Manager, and Jessie is the Social Media and Marketing Manager.
CF: What are some trends you are seeing in the clothes shipped to you?
JI and NK: Right now, BooHoo is launching their We Are USA campaign for summer and just signed Bella Thorne as a spokesperson, so we are seeing a lot of summer styles. For instance, a lot of rompers and pieces with lace and denim that can be seen at events such as Coachella, have been on their site.
CF: Who are your biggest fashion influences?
JI: I follow a lot of Instagram users, especially WeWoreWhat. I combine my own preferences with some of the biggest influences I see online.
NK: I also follow many Instagram accounts; one I really like is SummerWind. I’m also obsessed with Blake Lively and love her style.
