Lexington, like every other city, has its fair share of bloggers. But while some may find it difficult to stand out in a sea of blogs, Bethany Bruder is a true original. One look at her lifestyle blog Betharose is enough to get lost for hours, perusing her stunning pictures and her beautiful words. While others may focus solely on fashion, Bruder sees the whole picture and brings her life and her style together in a compilation of photography, thoughts and endless inspiration.

CollegeFashionista: When did you start Betharose?
Bethany Bruder: Hmm…I believe it was January of last year.
CF: What inspired you to start your blog?
BB: Other bloggers. I met another blogger and I just thought what she was doing was really cool, so I started my own.
CF: How would you describe your style?
BB: I like to keep it simple and pretty classy. I always like to be very comfortable; comfort is key. I don’t like tight things.
CF: Are there any other blogs you look to for inspiration?
BB: Zipped and Yesterday’s Sweetheart. I also found a blogger through you—I think her name is Aisha? I don’t even know if she’s a blogger, but I love her style. Especially her shoes.
CF: Do you think blogging will help you in your future career?
I’m hoping so. I think it will help me mostly through networking.
CF: Do you have any advice for aspiring bloggers?
Don’t be afraid to start—just go ahead and do it. Personally for me, I love it because it’s a creative outlet. And don’t compare yourself to other bloggers. Seeing the number of followers that other bloggers have can be intimidating, but that’s not what it’s about.
